Listed French Artist Roger Bezombes Plate Signed this Startling Air France Travel Poster. It is an Original Lithograph/Silkscreen on Paper, printed in 1981, in France by Imprimerie Mourlot. It is Plate Signed, on lower left side of the image. The image is a Surreal view of flags of many nations, shaped like a beach umbrella with images of nature beneath. The Title of the piece is “Vacanes” (Vacation). Overall color palette is sharp and bright – the blue background is matte (silkscreened), while the green ‘border’ is reflective.In the early 1970’s, Air France commissioned Roger Bezombes, famous for his sculptures and paintings, to create original artworks capturing Air France’s spirit. He produced a series of 16 colorful photo collages that were printed at Imprimerie/Atelier Mourlot, Paris. These graphic works were executed using lithography, typography, and embossing with metallic inks. These posters were revolutionary. Inspired by surrealism, they depict concepts rather than destinations and evoke the mysteries and joys of air travel. Far ahead of their time, they were only released by Air France and exhibited for the first time at the Pompidou Museum of Modern Art ten years after their creation.Outside measure of the paper is 60 X 100 cm (23 3/8 X 39 1/3) and is in Very Good condition w/ a little roughness on the edge and minor corner dents – covered once matted and/or framed.
